I got one here from good old ‘Murricah. A woman was struck by a southbound train at around 5:19 a.m. on October 13th, 2014. Near Chico State University, State of California, USA. The train was moving at approximately 49 mph when the conductor saw the woman and blew the horn to alert her to get off the tracks, despite the horn and lights, the woman remained oblivious and although the conductor made the efforts to stop, it was nowhere near possible to prevent the train from hitting her. She was struck and the resulting damage removed her arms from her body. The train’s abrupt stop due to the accident resulted in detours and traffic headaches for hours for morning commuters. Police found ear buds near the body but they say it’s unknown if she was actually wearing them at the time. Police also could not or would not release any information about her; her identity, age and whether or not she was a student at Chico University remains unknown.
Well, I don’t need a fucking police report to tell me that this bitch was listening to her goddamn ipod while walking down the railroad tracks. Let me tell you something, when I’m out jogging I do not listen to music at all. I am well aware of everything going on around me. You need to be able to hear so I cannot understand why people have their music blaring in their ear on the street, you are not at the gym, boys and girls. This is why pedestrians and joggers and fucking cyclists get hit by cars and trucks. Pay the fuck attention. There, that’s my public service announcement for today.
UPDATE: The woman has been identified as 20 year old Samantha M. Lewis. The death has been officially ruled as a suicide. Even though there is no evidence to suggest that other than the fact that the conductor said she did not move out of the way or acknowledge that she saw or heard the train. Almost like she was distracted, walking down the tracks listening to music instead of laying down on the tracks like we’ve seen most train suicides do…
